The Bow River Project

No location was chosen

This is an un-meetup except I want everyone to take photos of the Bow River somewhere in Calgary or even in the mountains or elsewhere in Alberta.  We have a couple of members who live or work in Canmore so we should get some scenic shots from there.  I live in Varsity so I can walk over and get some images from my vantage point.  The only restrictions are they have to be taken on February 25 2012 and include the Bow River in the photo.  Have fun with this meetup and we look forward to seeing the photos.  There is no charge of course for this meetup.  I have set the starting time for 6 am so that the album should be available around 7 am or so.

I'm very impressed with the ideas that people came up with despite the cold weather. Thanks for braving the elements and creating some great shots!!!!

I was tied up in a workshop all day and could no longer avoid the dismal weather of the day. . . caught this shot on my way home from U of C. . . added some post processing to more accurately reflect the mood of the day (or at least, of the shooter at the time of the shot! lol)

It was fun to have an assignment like this.

A cold day, snow blowing in the countryside, an ominous sky. I visited the wier on the Bow River just south of Carseland (Wyndham-Carseland Provincial Park). Had the whole place to myself. The river channels here in many branches and the heights above give good perspectives. The water pouring over the wier seemed somehow foreboding in the cold grey weather. A great idea, Dave. A memorable day in winter. Tim Johnston

I braved the freezing cold wind just to do this project, it was nice coz it did served as an exercise for me by walking along bow river before lunch (downtown area), and went to bowness park for another 2 hours of walk after lunch.
